July 2, 2014, a contract to replace aging and undersized water mains was issued for the Lake Boynton Estates Neighborhood Utility Improvements project, and on August 19, 2014 the Boynton Beach Utilities Department issued the notice to proceed to the Contractor. The project included construction and installation of 9,275 linear feet of 6-inch water main piping and 655 linear feet of 8-inch water main piping, with 1,592 square feet of sidewalk, 2,628 Square Yards of Swale Improvements, and 2,302 square feet of driveway aprons to the right-of-way were replaced and installed.

Twenty-three fire hydrants were installed using the new standard Sigelock Spartan hydrant, recognized as the most secure fire hydrant in the world. In addition, 201 new water services were connected along the streets in front of properties, eliminating the need for rear easement services.

A complete customer outreach program was implemented, including informational meetings, brochures and door hangers. Daily updates on social media via Facebook and Twitter were posted to keep residents and customers informed on road closures and construction activities, along with a Project Hotline with immediate response to any complaints, questions or concerns.

The total budget for the project was $1,665,261.90 and was completed almost 9% under budget for $1,509,339.61.

Final Completion Date of the project was April 22, 2015, nearly 4 months ahead of schedule (originally scheduled for August 14, 2015).

The focus of the Boynton Beach Utilities Department is to provide excellent service to all of our approximately 102,000 customers.
